Project Linus - Nashville, TN - Security Blankets for Children in Need

Project Linus is a volunteer non-profit organization that gives blankets and quilts to seriously ill or traumatized children.

Our Mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of NEW HOMEMADE WASHABLE blankets and lovingly created by volunteer blanketeers. Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.

The Nashville Chapter began in October 2001. Kit Rosskamp from Hartsville, TN was appointed Coordinator. We held our fist "Blanket Day" on March 16, 2002 in Lebanon, TN at the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church. Several "blanketeers" were recruited that day through newspaper articles and television coverage. The Chapter was on it's way.

Blanket Day

More "I Spy" and other things Blanket Day on Saturday, June 20th from 9am to 3pm at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church at 1655 West Main Street, Lebanon, Tennessee. Come join us as we make more blankets for the children at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.

Do you have your challenge blanket started? "Lions, Tigers, and Bears, oh my" for the quilts and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" for the afghans. They are due on August 31st. The judging will take place at our booth at the Nashville Quilt Show at Sally Cheney's Superstore at 2106 Gallatin Pike North near Rivergate.
The Quilt Show will be held from September 14 through the 20th. Bring all of your friends to vote for your blanket. You can design a quilt block, color a muslin square, and sew quilts for Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, too.

Since the chapter began we have delivered over 9,000 blankets to traumatized children within our "borders". Sadly, more blankets are needed because there will always be children in need.
